Image SEO a Part-n-Parcel of Social Media

An image is worth a thousand thoughts…” and in social media, an illustration enhances and compliments the written content, and generates maximum readership and clicks for the brand.

A good image in the blog posts, articles and news releases do signal that an attempt is being made to enhance the content, even though search engines can’t read visual material. But, adding Meta data or tags that Google can read, optimizes the tags for search, and goes a long way to improve the Image Search Optimization.

It has been studied that news items in Google News get searched and seen first if it is represented with an image. Likewise, a recent research revealed that 79% of media reporters believed that a good image with a news release increased its chances of being read. Blogs also get ranked best if it is complimented with a good visual element.

A social media executive should make it mandatory to present their brand postings or blogs with original images that are creatively fresh and visually impactful. People love pictures - primarily because humans love things that provide a visual stimulation.  One can use Flickr images and indulge the mind of the audiences with interesting images that is sure to boost the social media impact for a said brand.

To maximize image search optimization, a media executive can add the URL to that image in the description field and also tag the image, allowing the viewer to check out the blog posts and also generate maximum clicks as well.

Importance of image in a Social Media platform:
  • It can convey the brand’s message clearly.
  • It can create brand’s business credibility.
  • An association between the said product/service and the client can also be established.
  • Lastly, it can stimulate the buyer for a purchase or response.
Images are an effective part of a Social Media Optimization Plan and are best complimented with meaningful words that communicate and create that quintessential IDEA.

Twitter and Optimize The Social Bond

Facebook is the reigning star of the virtual World and rules the social media scene, but twitter, the second cousin is catching up with a social ad spend of 39 percent.

Tweeting allows one to update themselves at a speed of a rumor. Armed with business-friendly features, this social medium equipped with brand pages has allowed businesses to take off beyond the borders of the personal profile, showcasing their sponsored posts at the top of the search results. Twitter pages can outsmart the face book with smart text and nicer tags. It is viral and offers the freedom in terms of customization and provides advertisers of the brands with a great deal of power by allowing them to control the look and feel of their page. This in turn has complimented the business and has established their brand’s identity.

Twitter with a word limit of 140 word count caters to a more matured crowd than the youthful pack, which swarms the face book arena. This social media is widely used by our Indian politicians to garner the highest voter impact during their election campaigns, for it generates the maximum buzz in matters of a heart beat. In fact the stupendous rise of Mr. Barrack Obama in the US race for President-ship can be contributed to the use of face book and twitter. Bollywood too is hooked on twittering and considers it the coolest way to connect themselves @ the speed of light with their overzealous fans. They get regular and minute by minute updates of their favorite star without a sweat.

With the twittering updates, the follower not only stands to be updated on current information of their loved STAR, but can also be on track with the recent trends and fads followed by the other glitterati. They in turn can also stand to garner sympathy waves when in a dilemma, which is seen in the case of Yuvraj Singh, the Indian cricket star, who twittered his well-being after the recent chemotherapy.

So, tweet and get twitted back for it’s a bite-sized social habit, which is hard to ignore with a huge fan following ratio.

Internet friendly consumers are now pampered for choice and exposed to a range of products, which are all just a click of a button away - where buyers meet sellers in a virtual market space. Marketers, media agencies, ad networks, media tools providers and publishers have studied the emerging marketing trends and have seen the huge potential of brand building through web marketing. A potential enterprise can have a larger presence in this market space with the right banner advertising, search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click, email, RSS, voice broadcast, fax broadcast, blogging, pod-casting, video streams, wireless text messaging, and instant messaging.

Digital marketing also empowers a user to have unfettered communication with his contacts about the brand, enables them to interact with the brand’s promoter and allows the marketer to promote the brand in a contextually relevant publishing environment. Interactive widgets and gadget ads with integration to a user’s social networks are being pointed out as a tool that holds promise.

In India, print and TV ad spends are 40 times higher than digital marketing  but the scope for reaching a consumer using digital media have produced maximum search for products such as mobile phones and laptops. And, some of the successful brands, which have optimized their sales margin, are Puma, Pizza Hut and Pepsi.

Now, consumers don’t need to take out extra time to shop for a product, they just need to log on and buy it online.
